Thanks for your reply.
It is an ITV production, which we don’t receive here, so we get it later. Period is post war UK; main character is young vicar (similar body language as François Arnaud of the Borgias) who assists in solving murders with his detective pal; has a drinking problem because the girl he loves is marrying someone else; has gay assistant vicar; sour housekeeper. I think they’re starting to shoot second series soon. Maybe it’s not so lightweight – I await your assessment.
Googled Grantchester and see that it is very highly rated on IDMb and Rotten Tomatoes. Based on a series of books written by James Runcie. His father was the Arch Bishop of Canterbury…
Have you watched “Rome” and “The Virgin Queen”? If not, I strongly recommend these series. They are just perfect.
I have seen–and loved!–both. I miss Rome, and I do have plans to add recaps of The Virgin Queen at some point.
Can not tell you how much I look forward to your recaps. Always impressed by the nuances otherwise missed. Long may you blog.
Thank you!
Have you watched Grantchester? It seems a bit lightweight for British costume drama, but I do like the main characters.
I haven’t–I’ll have to check it out!

Interesting. Once the viewing/recapping schedule eases up a bit I’ll give it a go!
Thanks. Looking forward to your insightful commentary.
